The Photo that I chose to write my artist statement about is A mini-basketball that reads “Dave & Buster’s”. I chose this object because the significance comes from the journey of getting it. Last Winter, Skyline Girls basketball chose to do team bonding at Dave & Buster’s, an arcade. We took a party bus there and back which was really cool because we blasted music the whole way. When we arrived, we leaped off and ran inside to play as many games as our $40.00 worth of credit each could get us. We each walked in groups. I was with 3 other of my teammates. When I almost spend my $40.00 on the card, I decided to play one more game. I knew I didn’t have a lot tickets so all I would be able to get is candy. I played this last game of spinning a wheel and if it lands on the color you predicted you get that amount of tickets. I won, not only by guessing the correct color, but hitting the Jackpot. So I got a bunch of tickets, and I bought not only candy but this mini basketball along with a mini hoop to hang on my wall. I love this basketball because it reminds me of those fond memories that were created with my teammates. I think the struggle with this object was to keep it from rolling. I solved this by putting a tiny piece of tape under it so it wouldn’t move, which I would call a triumph. I also think I captured the color well.
