Life is Like a box of Chocolates...This is a photo of a park bench that has been there for 30 years. This bench is located under the Gazebo in my park. I chose to take a picture of this bench because ever since I moved up here, my friends that live in my subdivision and I would sit on this bench, having laughs, sharing memories, and reflecting on life. This bench has meaning to me, it’s a capsule for time. I chose this composition because I wanted to get the entire bench in the picture but also get the beautiful fall trees in the background, So I chose that angle to accomplish that vision. The feeling I’m trying to convey is that it’s more than a bench, it holds memories, such as many other materialistic things do. Photographs capture a moment in time and even alter life by holding it still. The challenges I faced were aligning the bench so that the color of the trees was in focus as well, and not washed out by the white clouds. The success was capturing both the bench and the trees in one.

Keep on Swingin’This is a picture of a swing. From the outside it just looks like a baby swing that has faded over the years of time. But this swing I have used since I was 2 years old. In lived in Florida at the time, So I didn’t get to swing on it often, but when I came up to visit My relatives, they would take me to this park. This swing is located in our Subdivision park. I chose this composition because it was the angle with the most scenery(no houses) and also is showing the other swing in symmetrical alignment. The feeling I’m trying to convey is emotional appeal, pathos. The feeling of adolescence, childhood. Everyone has a playground they went to as a kid, so the idea of this photo is to bring back that memory. The Challenges I faced were preventing the image from being blurry. It was quite windy the day I took these photos. My success was aligning both swings in the photo.

A Simplistic StructureThis is a play structure that I used to play on as a kid, and still play on today. This is in a neighborhood park next to our neighborhood. I chose this composition of viewing the inside of the circular tube. I liked how this could be a symbol of adolescence. We can only see the other side if you cross through the tube. That is a symbol for how in life, we must go through something in order to see the outcome. I also added in editing selective focus, to view this image a particular way, to show viewers of the photographers intend. The challenges were keeping the camera still and getting my camera leveled. The success was capturing the image I wanted to take.
